Prom

It was called to my attention that it is Prom season. Now, I haven’t had the opportunity to see all the kids dolled up while I am out for dinner. However, my cousin has blogged about it and, well, it got me thinking. Vegas and Prom together are such a dull twist to what could be an exciting evening. In most places, kids really have to get creative to come up with fun and interesting ways to enjoy a Prom date. In Vegas, however, it is the old staple… go to the dance for pictures, leave the dance, go to dinner, go to Vegas show on the strip. Blaahhh!

My cousin’s Prom sounded like so much fun. So, it got me thinking… was I as lucky???

Well, I can say that I DID have a great Prom date once. I went with Doug Forcheski. I really liked him. We were already such great friends that it was so easy for me to be around him. He planned everything to a “T”. Of course, we got our pictures taken, went to dinner and a show. The best part of the date was saved for last.

After the show, we got changed into casual clothes. The girls were then blind-folded and driven around in the cars until we were good and lost. Eventually, the cars parked. The girls, including myself, were escorted out of the cars. I could hear water in the background. I knew exactly where we were. From the sound of the water and the smell in the air, I knew we were at Lake Mead! Now, if any of you really know me, you will know that I practically grew up on the lake. I was so excited! However, for the life of me, I couldn’t understand what we were doing there at night.

The boys walked us to the dock, took our blindfolds off and, to our surprise, a boat (with a driver) was waiting for us. I swear it was like being in “Some Like It Hot”. I couldn’t wait to get on the boat and find out where it was taking us. We were driven out to one of the islands out on the lake. As we came around the back side of the island, there were tiki torches lit all over the beach. Once we got off the boat, the guys had blow-up couches for us to sit on. They had brought out a generator, TV, and microwave. We watched movies and ate popcorn until sunrise. It really was the ultimate date! Thanks Doug for such a wonderful memory!

Whirlwind

I know, I know…. I haven’t updated you all on my exciting life lately. So sorry! I have been sick (as stated below) and I just haven’t motivated myself to do anything. But, I’m feeling much better and am ready to face the world again. Although I have been sick, so much has gone on. I don’t know about you, but I believe everyone has a birthday season. Let me explain…

Once a year, there is a time in everyone’s life where most of the friends and family you know will have all of their birthdays around the same time. For me, it is March through May. Throw in a Cinco de Mayo party and a 1st Holy Communion and you got yourself a stew of things to do.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. In fact, I love spending time with my family and friends. If that means birthdays, holy communions and Cinco de Mayo parties to get us together, count me in. The only down side is sometimes you get so busy with everything, you never are home. In my case, my house is living proof that I have been “living it up” lately. My poor bathrooms and floors…I have been treating them like red-headed step children.

Anyone interested in a "Cleaning Party" at my house???

Sicky-Poo!

Ugh! I have been so sick. I came home from work this past Monday feeling like I caught the flu bug of some kind and have been trying to nurse myself back to health since then.

Thanks to good-ol' mother nature, it has been super windy here the past couple of days. The pollen in the air has decided to come over and take up residence at my house. I started out being sick to my stomach. Now, I have a nasty cold. I feel like my sinuses are lifting 200 lbs. and my cheeks are going to explode!

Unfortunately, I am unable to take regular medicine (due to my surgery). So, I can't indulge myself in a medicated pill/liquid cocktail every 4 to 6 hours to help ease my misery. "Ny-Quil..... take me away!.......How dry I am........"

I'm hoping by tomorrow the worst will be behind me. Wish me luck!

Interesting Week

Well, another week gone by. Almost everything has been the same this week for me. Big shocker there!

However, things haven't been the same for Zenon. It has been a "challenging" week... to say the least. He has really been struggling with coaching baseball.... again. It seems that every year brings a new set of challenges. And even though I'm just the wife on the sidelines, I still have a hard time with it all. I hate to have to watch him get mowed over by nasty parents and snotty kids. And with all of the crap going on, it sure is sucking the "love of the game" from him. Of course, I won't go into any more details and bore all of you. But I will say that I believe I am just as excited for May to come as Zenon is. (May 2nd is the last baseball game of the season.) Hurry up May!

On the flip side, I did have something very special happen to me this week. I was asked by Zenon's Goddaughter this week if I would be her 1st Holy Communion Godmother. I couldn't believe it! I felt so honored. Now, all of you know I'm not Catholic. However, my husband, along with his goddaughter's family have informed me about how special this is. Believe me, I know. I hope I can fulfill every obligation. I know this is a very special event in her life and I feel so blessed to be apart of it. Thank you Paulina for thinking of me. I love you.

Good News!

Here is some good news...

For those of you who don't know...... About 3 weeks ago, Zenon had an accident at work. He was borrowing some keys from a coworker. Long story short, his coworker threw the keys across the room. Just after throwing the keys, Zenon's coworker realized he wasn't looking. She called out his name to get his attention and when he turned and looked.... BAM! The keys went right into his eye. Eeewww!

So after having stitches in his eyeball, several doctor appointments and 3 weeks off of work, Zenon has finally gotten the "OK" that everything will be great! He can see just fine and his eye is healing quickly. Good thing too because I was starting to get tired of giving him back rubs. Wait a second .......

Family Weekend

Ok, ok, ok. I know it's been a week since I have written anything. It has been a crazy week! I had my twin brother in town. I was trying to squeeze in as much time as possible with him before he left for home (Colorado) on Sunday. It was so good to see him! He didn't bring his family with him... this time. I'll just have to make a trip up to see all of them.

Eric, Jason, Zenon and I went to see the movie "Vantage Point" on Thursday night. It was pretty good. It was like watching "Groundhog Day" but with more action. However, this movie was an award winner compared to the movie we saw on Friday.
It was my younger brother's brilliant idea to see "10,000 B.C." (thanks Jay!) If any of you are considering watching this film, let me save you the money and a headache. DON'T! You'll thank me later!

However, we took lemons and made lemonade. About 40 minutes into the movie, we started to make jokes about the dialogue of the movie.... just to stay awake. Next thing we knew, we were laughing so hard we had forgotten about how bad the movie was. Oh, don't worry, we didn't disturb anyone else watching the movie. The theater was so empty that it was nearly impossible for anyone to hear us anyway. (This should have been our first clue about the movie when we walked in.) In any case, we had so much fun joking around that it was almost worth the $10.00 movie tickets.

Thanks, Eric, for such a great weekend! I love you!

Too Cute!

I took some pictures of my dog the other day. I realized I just didn't really have any of him. So, I feel better now that I have done it. Isn't he the most!

Spring Break

Although I didn’t get a full week off of work like Z for Spring Break, I still wanted to go on a small trip for the weekend. So, we packed our bags and were off.

We decided to go to Phoenix, AZ and visit Z’s best friend. We went to the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Angels baseball game. It was great! Cool air, warm sun… it couldn’t get any better. Oh yeah, Rob Base (the person that sings “It Takes Two To Make A Thing Go Right”) was sitting about 4 rows in front of us. Sad… that is my claim to fame for the weekend. The Angels won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning by one! We also made a side trip to IKEA! LOVE that place! It is always a must.

We left Phoenix on Sunday and drove up to Flagstaff, AZ. It snowed almost the entire way up. I was excited because it was the only snow I got to be in for the entire winter season. We stopped at Oak Creek Canyon to take pics.

It was a relaxing trip. Just what I needed. I hope next year’s trip is longer than 3 days!

I'm A Blogger!

Well, I finally did it! I'm a blogger. I must admit... I have my extended family to thank for it. I have been reading their blog pages for the last year. I have been inspired! Not only have I been able to find out what has been going on in my family's lives, but they have been good examples for me to do the same for my family and friends.

Now, I will say that I don't believe my life is very interesting.... enough to keep the attention of everyone. Never fear, go and surf for something else on the web. You won't hurt my feelings. I'll never know.

So... ladies and gents... here we go!
